Thrift Sale Raises $6,000 for the Fight Against Alzheimer’s

Azura Memory Care and Assisted Living of Brookfield held their first annual Thrift Sale on August 19th and 20th, with all proceeds benefiting the Alzheimer’s Association and Dementia Friendly Elmbrook.

The Brookfield and surrounding communities were asked to donate their gently used items – furniture, clothes, books, housewares, etc. to the sale. Items were not priced, but instead, shoppers could fill up a bag for $10 and make a donation for large items. Shoppers also enjoyed a bake sale put on by our culinary team and residents at Azura of Brookfield, as well as raffle baskets donated by businesses in the community. Thanks to the generosity of donations and shoppers, Azura raised $6,000 that goes directly to the Alzheimer’s Association and Dementia Friendly Elmbrook!

“I cannot believe how generous the community has been!” said Azura resident, Pat Bain. “There were hundreds of preparation hours put into this sale and I am so glad I was able to help.”

Because this was the first Thrift Sale Azura has done in Brookfield, we really didn’t know what to expect or what the turnout would look like.

“We had hopes of raising a couple thousand dollars for the sale,” said Azura’s Marketing Coordinator, Peyton Litterick. “But $6,000 completely blew us away. We are so appreciative to have received so much support from the community and can move us closer to a world without Alzheimer’s”.

Thank you to everyone who made this sale possible!!
