Robert “Bob” joins the Azura team as our RN for the Sheboygan home!
He shares, “I graduated from a 3-year nursing school in 1985 in my hometown of Racine, WI. After graduation I went to work at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN, spending 12 years there in the MICU and Home Health. I spent the next 6 years working at another large hospital in Nashville, in both ICU and Cath Lab. In 2003 I returned to Wisconsin and worked for Aurora St Lukes in their Cath lab for 4 years before taking a leadership role with the Wisconsin Department of corrections. I spent nearly 15 years working at several different institutions. I like to kid about prisons being our States largest assisted living facilities. We trained the officers to pass meds and provide first aid, we responded to emergencies and saw people on sick call, and we coordinated offsite care with local clinics and hospitals. I took retirement from the DOC in 2021 and spent the last couple of years with Aurora Sheboygan in their float pool. As I approached that Medicare birthday this year it was time to switch up the intensity of this 4-decade career. I accepted a position with Azura Sheboygan. Personally, I have been married to my nursing school sweetheart for nearly 30 years. We have a blended family with 5 now adult children and are empty nesters. We have two grandchildren in Alabama. We love road trips and have hiked mountains in 12 different States.”
