The Alter-G anti-gravity treadmill is used to allow functional use of a replaced or repaired joint with up to 80% reduction in body weight. This encourages increased range of motion of the joint with natural movement, with significantly less strain. The Alter-G also is favored over pool therapy by orthopedic surgeons because of the decreased risk of infecting a surgical incision.
