Azura Living founders Timothy Heronimus and Joshua McClellan have spent more than 35 years in the long-term care industry. They began the company in 2008 with a vision to transform the culture of care. Today, the extended Azura Living family is committed to providing our guests with the finest amenities, the most innovative therapies and the most personalized care.
Mr. McClellan spent ten years as founder and President of
McClellan Health Systems Inc. (MHS).
Through strategic acquisitions and development, MHS grew from a single,
skilled nursing facility to a leading regional healthcare provider with six
full service retirement communities, caring for over 650 residents. The company philosophy was simple: create a
supportive family environment where staff members and residents are treated
with dignity and respect, and encouraged to celebrate life each day. This philosophy was emphasized by a
commitment to find, develop and retain the best people, and through continual
investment in its communities.
As President of MHS, Mr. McClellan was responsible for the
direction and leadership of over 700 MHS staff members and an operation budget
of over $35 million. MHS offered a full
range of senior care options including skilled nursing, rehabilitation, assisted
and independent living services. In June, 2006 Mr. McClellan successfully negotiated the sale
of all MHS communities to Trilogy Health Services of Louisville, Kentucky. In 2008, Mr. McClellan co-founded Azura
Living with Mr. Timothy J Heronimus with the purpose of Transforming the Culture
of Care. Together they designed, developed, and in July 2010 opened and operate
Azura of Lakewood – Rehabilitation Suites, a 108 suite skilled nursing facility
providing short-term, transitional rehabilitation services. Azura is committed
to quality and is actively seeking new development opportunities and management
agreements with developers who are in need of their services to manage their
senior living communities. Mr. McClellan serves as President and CEO of Azura
Living. Mr. McClellan is a licensed nursing home administrator. He earned his M.B.A from the University of
Findlay in 1999 and a B.S. from the Ohio State University in 1995. He is active in several trade organizations
including the Colorado Health Care Association, the American Health Care
Association, the Alzheimer’s Association, and Young Presidents
Organization. The success of MHS led to several local and regional
recognitions including the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award
winner for Northwest Ohio in 2002. Mr.
McClellan and his wife Stacy have four children, Maxwell, Cade, Avery and
Emerson. They currently reside in Niwot,
Colorado.
Mr. Heronimus has spent more than 25 years in healthcare
including 10 years in the U.S. Army and more than 15 years in senior housing.
He has worked for privately held, family owned companies as well as large,
public healthcare companies in various roles including Director of Nursing
Services, Nursing Home Administrator, and Regional Director. In 2001, Mr. Heronimus
was hired to complete the development, obtain initial licensure and Medicare
certification, and operate Broomfield Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center
in Broomfield, CO. Between 2002 and 2008, he oversaw two expansions increasing
the facility from 160 beds to 210 beds all while maintaining an occupancy of
greater than 90%. The last expansion completed in 2008, was the addition of 30
private rehabilitation suites which experienced immediate success with 100%
occupancy within 30 days.
In 2008, Mr. Heronimus co-founded Azura Living with Mr.
Joshua J McClellan with the purpose of Transforming the Culture of Care.
Together they designed, developed, and in July 2010 opened and operate Azura of
